Skellefteå Konståkning was founded in 2000 and today we have about 200 members who together creates joy, enthusiasm, and community. Regardless of what goals and ambitions you have for your skating, here you will find a place to develop and have fun - both on and off the ice!

Skating school

FOR BEGINNERS

The skating school is the base of our association and is aimed for beginners.
The skating school provides a good foundation for figure skating as well as hockey or just general skating. You must be 3 years old and feel safe being without your parent on the ice. We also have a skating school for adults.

NUMBER OF PRACTICES FOR THE SKATING SCHOOL

The skating school runs for 10 sessions, starting each semester. We are in the B-rink at Skellefteå Kraft Arena, and usually practice on Sunday afternoons.

TERM FEE

Children 3-17 år SEK 500 + a membership fee of SEK 200 .

Adults (from 18 years) SEK 1000 + a membership fee of SEK 200.

COACHES

Our coaches have coaching education thorugh SISU and the Swedish Figure Skating Association. To help them, the coaches have several help skaters to give support to the children who may need to hold a hand sometimes. The coaches and help skaters are always there to help skating school's participants step on and off the ice.

ACCOMPANYUNG ADULT

You, as an adult, are of course welcome to watch the training. You can choose to stand up in the stands on the short side of the ice or in the space between the A and B rink. It is not allowed to stay in the players' booth next to the rink. That's because we want skaters and coaches to be able to work undisturbed down on the ice, but also because we want to avoid gravel and dirt on the rubber mats as it steals the rails. It happens that the children get sad or hurt and then we do our best to comfort them. If necessary, we will seek you out.

Figure skating school

WHEN YOU CAN ALREADY SKATE

You can start figure skating school when you can already skate. It is for you who want to continue developing your skating and learn the basics of figure skating with a focus on steps, edges, and spins. You must be 5 years old to start the figure skating school.

NUMBER OF PRACTICES FOR THE SKATING SCHOOL

Figure skating school has one practice per week.

TERM FEE

The term fee is based on how many training sessions the group have. For more information, send us an expression of interest.

Equipment

SKATES

Stable skates in the appropriate size (the insole should not be more than 1 cm longer than the foot) and a well-ground rail are basic prerequisites for the skater to be able to develop on the ice.

For beginners, we recommend a regular skate of a model where the leather in the shaft is hard and strong and where no creases form at the ankle when the skater bends the knees. We do not recommend plastic skates with buckles or skates that are adjustable in size. Remember to tie the skates all the way up - even hockey skates - to give the best possible stability to the ankle.

RENTAL OF SKATES

Det finns ett antal konståkningsskridskor för uthyrning. Priset är 200 kr per termin.
Om du vill hyra skridskor skickar du ett mejl till klara@skellefteakonstakning.se

CARE OF SKATES

To avoid damage to the blades, skate guards must be used when the skaters go off the ice. Please mark your skate guards with name!

It is important not to store the skates with the skate guards on as this causes the blades to rust. Also, be sure to dry the skates after use with a soft, clean towel. Before the skates go into the bag, we recommend that you use soft guards.

CLOTHES

The children should have sufficiently warm and flexible clothes, in which it is easy to move. Thick winter overalls are not something we recommend. It is also important that the clothes are clean, so that sand and gravel do not follow onto the ice and destroy the skaters' blades. A pair of gloves is also always something we recommend.

HELMET

A helmet is mandatory in the skating school, regardless of the skater's age. The helmet must be marked with the child's name on the forehead.

Good to know

Come in good time - at least 15 minutes before the ice session starts. There are many people in the changing rooms and sometimes there is a queue for the toilets, so count on having a little extra margin to avoid stress.

Make sure the child visits the toilet before training starts.

Only skaters and coaches are allowed to stay on the rubber mats in the booth. This is to prevent blades from being damaged by small gravel.

Hard guards should ALWAYS be on the skates when you go from the locker room to the ice. It is especially important that it cannot be worn when there is a risk that the blade could injure other children.

No chewing gum or sweets in the mouth when stepping on the ice.

Long hair must be up to avoid the hair ending up in the face during training.

Our coaches and help skaters help the children to take off and put on the guards before and after training. Therefore, as far as possible, let the children go to the booth themselves.

To play is an important part of learning, as the children often feels more confident during the game and then practice balance, speed and rhythm.
